Will Ware

There was an episode of Star Trek (original series, episode 50, aired 23 Feb 1968) called "By Any Other Name" where the ship is hijacked by people from the Andromeda Galaxy who want to go back there. The trip was supposed to take 300 years even for the Enterprise. So within 43 years, a new discovery (possibly quite obscure to the average guy in the street) became a central plot point in popular fiction. I still remember the image of the Andromeda Galaxy in the bridge's viewing screen, surrounded by empty space.
