We have seen some excellent, balanced coverage in the European and Australian media about the recent Phoenix/Drexler article in the Institute of Physics journal Nanotechnology. In particular, this piece published by BBC News shows a good deal of understanding and careful reporting.
The BBC report also includes John Burch's compelling new cutaway illustration of a desktop nanofactory appliance, as shown below (click for a larger image).
Now we're wondering why the U.S. press has been mostly silent so far on this issue. Perhaps they are just reacting more slowly, or maybe they are so intent on finding sensational and controversial stories that they don't have time for balanced science reporting.
