Mike Treder vs. Prince Charles
Sometimes I am amazed at the places that CRN gets mentioned -- and what they say about us!
We are always keen to find out if our ideas are reaching anyone outside the small world of nanotech researchers and futurists. Then, lo and behold, I find myself quoted in Corporate Sector Review, the monthly newsletter of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. ACCA is described as the largest and fastest-growing international accountancy body in the world, with over 300,000 students and members in 160 countries.
So what are these 300,000 accountants being told about Mike Treder and nanotechnology? Well, first I am compared to Prince Charles. I kid you not.
There have been alarmist headlines, notably Prince Charles’ fear of “grey goo”. However, more serious critics have raised questions about the ethical issues involved, the possible toxicity of nanoparticles and the likely military applications of nanotechnology developments and applications. “There are indeed serious risks,” says Mike Treder, Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Nanotechnology, “and many of them are quite worrisome.”
There you have it. I am a more serious critic than the Prince of Wales. But I'm pretty sure he could still whip me at polo.
The monarchy is passe. Charles has no authority in anyhing, not to mention MNT. He even represents the past and ongoing ignorance of human survival system.
What CRN is doing now is extremely important for the future direction of human civilization. What I'm proud of CRN and you, Mike, is the substance that is undergoing within CRN. I know the job is not easy and require some sacrifice. So keep up the good job. I do't care if Charles looks more royal than you or he play better polo. Ha Ha!
